Proposal Editing
Before we talk about the editing you did to the
sample sentence, let's discuss "Why" you should edit your proposals.
- Your clients don't want to read "War and Peace." They want clear,
concise and precise information that doesn't waste their time.
- Your results, your image and your profits are at stake. Take
advantage of every competitive edge you can use. A Great Proposal is a
Great Competitive Edge.
- When you read the edited version, ask yourself...which one of these
two sentences would I prefer to use?
Now, you know why Editing is so critical to your Proposal Writing
efforts.
The original sentence was:
"There are many benchmarks that we use to keep your project on time."
The edited version could read:
"We use many benchmarks to keep your project on time."
Or,
"We keep your project on time using carefully monitored benchmarks."
Or,
"Your projects meet their deadlines because we benchmark each step."
Are your words saying what you mean or what the client wants to hear?
